At row where subtotals should be placed, choose one of the "Subtotals" items from the popup menu:
Three different types of subtotals are available: one labeled simply "Subtotal" shows the GRP or spot total, depending on the current display. "Subtotal Impressions" and "Subtotal $" pretty much do what you'd expect.
Subtotals are labeled in italics, for clarity.
As with any other rows, subtotal rows can be moved by dragging on the grey stub at the left; subtotals are recomputed automatically.
There are some very handy shortcuts that make it easy to act upon all members of a subtotal group at the same time:
• | Click in the "In" column for a subtotal to take all of its rows in or out of consideration. (Or, alt-click on the "In" column of any of a group of contiguous rows to toggle them all.) |
• | In the "Rules" panel, you can lock or unlock all of the elements within a subtotal group by clicking on the Lock column within the subtotal row. |
• | Right-click on a subtotal value for additional operations on the elements of that subgroup: |
o | "Clear Entries" wipes out entries for that group within that plan |
o | "Zero Entries" enters a zero for the GRPs for each element of that group in that plan. |
Subtotals, including percentages of the GRPs in each subtotal group, are also shown in the Recap panel on the Details tab.
Audience Duplication with Two Subtotals
Network plus cable? General market plan and the Spanish-language plan?
There is a very capable set of tools available to explore how two different plans share and duplicate their audiences. You can get to this by selecting two plans, and choosing the "Duplication / Venn" command on the Explore menu.
But if you have exactly two subtotals on your plansheet, you can do this with a single plan column. Select a single plan, and choose the "Duplication / Venn" command.
