Exporting a Demo

As mentioned in the topic "What is a Demo?", a demo consists of a list of respondents who meet some criteria.

That list can be exported to a file.  Simply choose the Export command on the Demos menu.  (The command's name will be shown with whatever demo is currently visible.)

demo export cmd

With a standard file-save dialog you then save this list to a file:

demo export save

This ".tvdemo" file can then be imported back into TView at some later point.

Note!  What you are saving is a list of the actual homes and persons who comprise the demo, not a description or coding for the demo.

This list identifies (by code numbers) the homes and persons in the demo at the time of the survey data used. Note that the homes and persons in the research panel change over time!

This is a crucial consideration!  Suppose that an agency has commissioned a Nielsen Spectra or Catalina analysis that projects the product users or prospects among the respondents as of February 2012.  That works just fine.  The question might be raised, "Rather than re-doing a similar study for 2014, can't we just export the demo from out 2012 plansheet and use it in 2014?"  This will not be successful.  We can export a list of the respondents from the 2012 plansheet, but none of them will be present in the data for 2014. So, it will not be possible to import that list and find them in the 2014 plansheet.
