Basing a Vehicle's Entries Upon Another Vehicle

You can tell TView that the GRP entries for some component, daypart or vehicle line-item should be copied or computed from the GRP entries for some other line-item.
Here are some possible uses:
| • | fix the weight on Daytime to be 75% of the weight on Prime |
| • | we might set TLC to have 80% of the weight of Discovery |
| • | set a Saturday network newscast to have one-fifth the weight placed on daily newscasts |
Then, in any of these cases, whenever an entry is made in the base vehicle, the other vehicle is updated automatically.
Let's demonstrate this with a plan that has three cable networks, Discovery, TLC and Weather. We will enter values directly for Discovery and Weather, but will set the GRP entries for TLC to be 80% of the GRP values entered for Discovery. We start be entering our plan, leaving blank the entry for the value to be derived:
We will now tie TLC to Discovery. This is done using the "Get Info" command on the vehicle popup menu. Point to the name of the line-item for TLC. Then click and choose "Get Info" from the popup menu. Usually, all entries are set so that GRP entries are simply entered directly:
Use this popup menu on the Get Info dialog to set the base item for the calculation. In this sample, we want TLC to be based on Discovery:
When you make a selection, TView next shows an edit box where you can enter a factor for computing GRPs. If you want a line-item to just copy the same GRP values as on another line, leave this factor value as 1. In this sample, we want TLC to have GRP entries that are 80% those of Discovery, so we enter a factor of 0.8:
Click OK. When you return to the plansheet, you will see that TView is now computing the GRP entries for TLC, and that they are 80% those of Discovery:
Now try entering a different GRP level into Discovery, and the TLC entry changes automatically:
